How is NaturSense Aloe Vera Gel different than typical drugstore-type aloe gels?

NaturSense is quite different than typical drugstore-type aloe gels that have very little aloe—if any—but are loaded with chemical thickeners, preservatives and fragrance. Why is your aloe 'gel' so liquid?

Many common drugstore-type aloe gels are loaded with chemical thickeners like polyethylene glycols, petroleum based compounds. This class of additives is used in airplane de-icing, antifreeze, and e-cigarettes. Not surprisingly, in cosmetics they can encourage absorption of bad ingredients along with the good, cause skin irritation, dry skin, and speed aging of the skin. On the other hand, NaturSense USDA Certified Organic Aloe Vera Gel contains 99% certified organic, cold-pressed and ultra-filtered aloe vera juice. The remaining 1% consists of Xanthan for abit of silky texture, and eco-friendly preservatives Citric Acid and Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) to ensure its 3-year shelf life without refrigeration. It's much thinner than those other gels due to its purity, so use liberally, but pour slowly!

Does your aloe gel need to be refrigerated after opening?

No. Our product contains 1% eco-friendly preservatives: Citric Acid and Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) — just enough to ensure its 3-year shelf life without refrigeration. Many of our customers report that they do store it in the fridge just in case, to cool sunburns, kitchen burns and skin irritations.

How can I use NaturSense Aloe Vera Gel to make my own hand sanitizer?

While our product was intended for skin and hair, quite a few of our customers shared their recipes for hand sanitizer using our product during the Covid pandemic. If you're going to use it too, there's some important information to know before you start combining ingredients...

Our product contains a tiny bit of Xanthan, a plant based thickening agent to give it a silky texture. Since our product is 99% organic aloe vera juice, without Xanthan it would have the consistency of just juice. Xanthan combined with alcohol can form solids, but following the instructions we've assembled from customers' input, you'll get good results. Can aloe vera gel help with acne scars?

According to the US National Institute of Health’s National Library of Medicine:

"Aloe vera gel can not only increase the amount of collagen in wounds but also change the composition of collagen, increase collagen cross-linking and thereby promote wound healing. Scientific studies have shown that the aloe gel can increase the flexibility and reduce the fragility of the skin."

Why is aloe vera gel good for sunburn?

Dermatologist Dr. Paul Benedetto of the Cleveland Clinic answers this simply:

"Aloe appears to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and skin-protective qualities, which may be why it is often suggested for sunburn. The physical properties of aloe can also feel soothing on the skin. As the ideal medicine for curing a sunburn is time, aloe vera gel can be helpful in keeping the burned area less irritated while it heals."

What are the benefits of aloe vera for hair?

"Aloe vera has many active ingredients and minerals that can help strengthen your hair. It has fatty acids and amino acids and is rich in vitamins A, B12, C and E. These play a part in healthy hair follicles. Aloe gel can control greasy hair, help an itchy scalp, protect from UV damage and encourage hair growth." Source: Web MD

My oncologist has recommended aloe gel to soothe radiation burns. Is NaturSense a good choice?

We have had many customers write to tell us how our product helped them during radiation treatments for cancer. Here is what one had to say:

"I recently went through radiation treatments. The doctor recommended aloe for the skin in that area. After taking a toll on my aloe plant I went in search of something I could buy that was 100% aloe. NaturSense was close as I found. It has been working great and my doctor actually said he would recommend it for his other patients." Donna D. July 28 2019
